Has your brand mission evolved in any way in the past year? What continues to drive your team forward?
Our brand mission has remained true at its core to deliver skin health solutions grounded in Corneotherapy and supported by education, but over the past year, it has evolved to meet the growing demand for more holistic, individualised care.
As skin therapists navigate increasingly complex skin conditions driven by environmental stressors, barrier disruption, and industry misinformation, our mission continues to evolve to empower them with the tools, knowledge, and products they require to make a lasting impact.
We are constantly refining and expanding our education curriculum, ensuring it's both clinically relevant and aligned with the latest skin science. We’ve recently welcomed a new educator to our NSW team to further strengthen our national training support and provide more hands-on opportunities for learning and connection.
At the same time, we’re continuously identifying gaps in the market and exploring innovative solutions. Our product development pipeline is stronger than ever, particularly with an exciting lineup in the works for our SIMKA brand, which reflects our commitment to barrier-first and lifestyle-conscious formulations.
What continues to drive our team forward is our unwavering belief in the power of the skin therapist, or as we like to call them - Corneotherapists. Supporting their growth, confidence, and success remains our greatest motivation.
What’s one under-the-radar product from Derma Aesthetics that you wish more people knew about?
One under-the-radar product we wish more people knew about is the dermaviduals Base Cream High Classic.
While it might not have the flashiness of a hero serum or targeted treatment product, this formulation is a true corneotherapeutic powerhouse, designed to support the skin barrier at its most fundamental level. Unlike conventional moisturisers that often rely on occlusive ingredients or artificial emulsifiers, Base Cream High Classic is physiologically aligned with the skin’s structure and function.
It’s rich in skin-mimicking lipids and free from fragrances, preservatives, and emulsifiers that can compromise the barrier, making it ideal for sensitive, reactive, or post-treatment skin. It’s also highly customisable, which allows our clinic partners to tailor it with actives for individual skin conditions, a core principle of corneotherapy.
In the age of overcomplicated skincare routines, this product is a quiet achiever that speaks directly to the skin’s needs - repair, restore, and protect.
What do you foresee as the next major trend in skincare, and in what ways is Derma Aesthetics cultivating innovation in this area?
We believe the next major trend in skincare is a move toward personalised, barrier-focused solutions that prioritise long-term skin health - reinforcing the importance of a resilient skin barrier, a philosophy Derma Aesthetics has championed for years.
Consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the long-term impact of harsh actives, over-exfoliation, and disrupted skin barriers. As a result, the industry is moving toward intentional, restorative skincare that supports the skin's microbiome and lipid structure - not just quick-fix results.
At Derma Aesthetics, innovation is deeply tied to the principles of corneotherapy working with the skin, not against it. Through dermaviduals, we offer custom formulations that can be tailored to the individual, based on what their skin needs at any given moment. Our clinic partners offer advanced skin assessments to precisely mix active ingredients into bespoke bases, delivering targeted support without compromising the skin’s integrity.
We’re also continuing to invest in education and clinic support, ensuring that both professionals and clients are empowered with the knowledge to understand their skin’s barrier function and how to maintain it - something we see as a critical part of the future of skincare.
How do you stay connected to the evolving needs of skin therapists and clinics on the ground?
At Derma Aesthetics, staying connected to the evolving needs of skin therapists and clinics is at the heart of everything we do.
We work in close partnership with our clinic network, maintaining open lines of communication through regular education, training, and business development support. Our team, many of whom are qualified skin therapists themselves, regularly visit clinics, host hands-on workshops, and offer tailored in-clinic guidance to ensure we’re not only listening to feedback but acting on it.
We also stay connected through our national education workshops across Australia and New Zealand, regular partner surveys and industry events like Beauty Expo which all provide valuable touchpoints with our clinic partners. These insights help us adapt our product offerings, refine our training, and evolve our support programs to meet real-world needs.
As a natural extension of this approach, we’re excited to soon introduce our Ambassador Program a dedicated initiative designed to build a network of trusted brand advocates and foster a collaborative environment where shared insights and feedback help shape the future of our offerings. This program will further deepen our engagement with passionate skin therapists who are aligned with our values and committed to advancing professional skincare.
By working alongside our clinic partners, we ensure that everything we offer from formulations to education aligns with the challenges and goals skin therapists face every day.
What’s one skincare step or habit you think people consistently underestimate?
One skincare step people consistently underestimate is daily sun protection - especially in Australia’s harsh climate.
Broad-spectrum protection is essential, as it shields the skin from both UVA rays (which contribute to premature ageing) and UVB rays (which cause sunburn). Using an SPF 50 adds an extra layer of reassurance in Australia’s high UV environment, where incidental sun exposure can significantly impact skin health over time.
At Derma Aesthetics, we believe that effective skincare starts with education. Empowering consumers to adopt consistent, sun-safe habits is crucial and that guidance often begins with our trusted skin therapists, who play a vital role in recommending the right protection and reinforcing the importance of barrier health every day.
That’s why SIMKA launched its range of SPF 50 products in late 2024 to bridge the gap between high-performance sun protection and skin-friendly formulations. The range includes options designed for oily or acne-prone skin, as well as hydrating, antioxidant-rich formulations suited to dry or sensitive skin making effective sun protection more inclusive, wearable, and compatible with corneotherapeutic principles.
How do you ensure your education and training programs remain relevant in a fast-changing industry?
At Derma Aesthetics, we ensure our education remains relevant by constantly evolving our lens through ongoing research, clinical insight, and staying grounded in the science of skin - not trends. Each educator brings their unique strengths to uplift our training, allowing us to deliver powerful, forward-thinking content across digital platforms and live education.
In addition, we proudly offer CPD-accredited courses via our Australasian Academy of Corneotherapy (AAC) Education Hub, confirming our education meets the highest standards of quality, relevance, and integrity, while empowering our learners to achieve their professional development requirements with confidence.
What new tools, training, or resources are you offering to support beauty professionals in 2025?
To further empower skincare professionals in 2025, we are proud to introduce a comprehensive new series of educational skin needling courses launching this August. Far beyond traditional device training, this program delivers a results-driven curriculum specifically designed to enhance practitioner knowledge, elevate confidence, and advance clinical expertise.
At the heart of this initiative is the EXCEED Education Platform, thoughtfully developed to support practitioners across all levels of clinical experience. The platform follows a structured, three-tiered format - Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced - allowing participants to progress through clearly defined stages that align with their current skill set and professional aspirations. The curriculum delves into microneedling science, wound healing physiology, contraindications and risk management, advanced treatment planning, and the role of cosmetic chemistry in promoting long-term skin health and results.
These courses are tailored to:
Deliver clinically proven techniques that elevate treatment outcomes.
Deepen practitioners’ understanding of the EXCEED device, ensuring optimal use and efficacy.
Foster ongoing professional development through structured, evidence-based education.
With a strong emphasis on confidence-building and real-world application, the new EXCEED Education Platform is a significant step forward in our commitment to supporting the growth and success of skin therapists and our clinic partners across Australia and New Zealand.

What conversations or themes are you hoping to highlight at Beauty Expo?
At Beauty Expo, we’re looking forward to leading conversations around skin barrier health, ingredient transparency, and the growing demand for personalised, corneotherapeutic skincare solutions.
We want to shine a light on the science of Corneotherapy moving beyond surface-level trends to help both therapists and consumers understand the long-term importance of barrier repair and skin integrity. As the original Corneotherapy brand to enter the market in 2010, we’re equipped with the tools, expertise, and passion to lead that conversation. Through both our dermaviduals and SIMKA brands, we’ll be highlighting how customisation, skin-identical ingredients, and holistic support from the inside out and outside in are reshaping how we approach skin health.
We’ll also be showcasing EXCEED Microneedling as a gold standard in non-invasive skin correction with a focus on safe, effective results supported by education and skin prep protocols that align with our barrier-first philosophy.
Ultimately, we want to engage in meaningful discussions around evidence-based treatments, practitioner-led skincare, and how the industry can move toward more sustainable, ethical, and results-driven practices.
Looking ahead, what are some bold goals or exciting projects coming up for Derma Aesthetics?
Looking ahead, one of the most exciting initiatives we’re launching is our dermaviduals Ambassador Program, a bold step towards deepening our clinic partnerships and amplifying our brand presence across Australia and New Zealand. Our mutually empowering initiative is set to help shape the future of our brand and contribute to a more connected, educated skincare community. Whilst I cannot reveal much of the details just yet, we see this program as a catalyst for innovation, collaboration and growth, not just for Derma Aesthetics but for every clinic partner and those who are yet to joins us.
